Someone here has clicked inadvertently on an attachment entitled 'friends name'.html in an obvious SPAM email hoping to learn something from a friend.
She says what happened next was a fleeting glimpse of the Daily Mail or similar and then an email displayed, the text of which contained just random letters.
When I was made aware of this I quickly shut down the laptop and then assuming a trojan or something had been downloaded I removed the hard disk and restored an earlier disk image to the C: partition to overwrite any anything invasive.
There are however 3 other partitions. All I have done on these partitions is to clear all the browser data and cookies and completed a full antivirus scan.
The laptop is back in use, disconnected from the LAN and using the internet, but how worried should we be?
What does this type of hack usually do. Anyone any experience or advice to recount or share.
