So it has finally launched, but I don't think it is ready by a long way. I was not going to install it on my main drive, but I was bored, so I decided to. i know have all the software I normally use, or the ones that will work with Windows 11 anyway, I am even using Edge, but to be honest Edge is annoying me, the new tab page is a pain, I will have to change that.
Windows 11 is working ok, but I think some people who have been using Windows for years will find it annoying, i have done already in a few places. But this is only for a few days, maybe a week, never know may be a month, but I will go back to Windows 10, I made a new image if it, so I can reinstall with ease.

I am an Insider and have been using Win 11 as my daily driver for a while now since it was first announced. I don't like how the taskbar cant be repositioned but have adapted.

My CPU is apparently "too old" for Windows 11 but working absolutely fine. I will not be upgrading for the sake of Windows 11.

I know you are an insider, I did install the dev version on the second drive for a while, but needed the space, so it had to come off, but now I will see how Windows 11 work with software that is taxing, like my video editor as long as it doesn't crash like it did on the dev version of 11. I gave it a quick go last night, and it seemed ok. but this is a newer version of hitfilm. They have added automatic proxies editing, that is great for people with less powerful machines.
i have got the taskbar on the top of the screen via a reg tweek, but it is strange as now the start menu is always on the left-hand side.
Not being able to use multiple calenders may be off-putting to some people, I found out today that could not be done.
More difficult to get to the control panel, bad enough in Windows 10, putting software as default is a pain, certainly the browser.
new tabs on Edge is a pain in the neck, while I can get rid of the rubbish that comes up when a new tab is opened, it still tries to write to a cookie, I just want a blank tab.
I should change my sig, to using Windows 11 for a trial

No, I would not update just for Windows 11, still thinking of getting a Mac mini to be honest, going to wait and see what the new ones are like.
if I do stay with windows, I will update to a Ryzen 9, but we will see.
The one thing I got to see is, if I change to a Mac, will the add-ons I purchased for hit film will transfer over to the Mac. I also need to look if Hitfill is now fully compatible with the M1 as some people were saying the last version did not work too well.

Same here. A 3 year old laptop, I3 version 7 cpu, is not supported. Revision 8 required. That means millions of windows 10 user cannot upgrade. Definitely not upgrading computer.

I have control panel on the desktop, if you can find the desktop settings it is easy to enable.

duh, I did not think of that, got other things on my mind, easy enough to find by pressing the Windows key and typing control, I now got it on my taskbar, but I may move it into the start menu as it is not something I am going to use every day.
Thanks for that.

It seems there are performance problems with Windows 11 on newer Ryzen processors, so I'll be holding off on this upgrade for the time being.

I've just forced tried it on an old Laptop to see what all the fuss is about, and to be quite honest I'm glad I did, to me it's just a bit "meh", it should have been just another Windows 10 update. The worst thing for me is all the restrictions on the taskbar, especially when you are forced to have combined taskbar buttons, so you cannot separate having 2 same programs open on 2 different monitors. At least one thing, now I've tried it out, it has actually saved me money on buying a new laptop and 3 new desktops, as I'm now sticking with Windows 10!
