no RDP setup on PC that i know of, and would need a monitor for checking

What about taking the VGA from the PC to an HDMI port on say a TV? Amazon will do you a converter cable for around a tenner.

sadly need to be using it now as work with sensitive data prevails, and no tv

and non practical for taking it elsewhere due for data protection laws

If you can get RDP enabled (remotely perhaps? Dunno not played with W7 for a decade or more or beg, borrow a monitor) then you can run it headless going forward.

Maybe worth a shot, if you've run out of other options....

Remotely enabling RDP

If the data you are working on is sensitive and you are quoting data protection I would strongly recommend you look at updating the OS sooner rather than later on devices running Windows 7

no need as it is non connected to the internet

win 8.1 10 and 11 are major concerns when it comes for privacy with all its embedded spyware

its just a monitor that is the issue or rather lack thereof atm
