Looks like I have broken or upset my wife’s Win10 pc….

[link to this post]

In trying to increase the volume of the monitors built in speakers, pressed the Menu button on the Display, an Edge 10 ET240h (OK it is obsolete, but has worked fine, as do the two I have as a dual display)

Then had a rectangular box showing in the centre of the screen showing a volume slider. Increased the volume ok, then…… In trying to get rid of the rectangular box, ended up with the box showing Out of Range.

Try as I might, I cannot remove it.

I tried changing the screen settings for different sizes etc, no difference. Power cycled the display and pc, no difference.

Thought that the likely problem was the Display, so swapped the displays - my wife’s and one of mine over. The fault was still there, BUT now on my display (connected to my wife’s pc). My wife’s display connected to my pc works fine. I wasn’t expecting that, since that more or less confirms that the fault is within my wife’s pc.

This is a Gigabyte Brix GB-BACE-3160 with Win10 OS. https://www.gigabyte.com/Mini-PcBarebone/GB-BACE-316...
The connection between pc and monitor is VGA.

Any ideas please?

Cheers!

Start in Safe Mode ( https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/... ) then go to Device Manager and delete the video adapter. Restart the PC and Windows should automatically install the video driver again.

No actual clue here, but it seems that the interventions you have told us about are mostly on the monitor. I would be looking at the PC and turning volumes to 0 on there and restart form that position.

Thanks for that. Did as you suggested and got rid of the Warning Box in Safe Mode. However, looks like I will have to re-install the drivers; so just hunting out the original drivers DVD/CD and a USB DVD player. A job for later on.

Thanks again.

Cheers!

Go to the manufacturer's website and you may be able to download the driver from there (probably latest version as well so no updating like after installing from DVD/CD).

I think the driver you need is here: https://www.gigabyte.com/Mini-PcBarebone/GB-BACE-316...

Downloaded as suggested and currently all looking good. Strangely during driver install it advised that the driver that was already loaded in was more up to date than the one I was installing.

I may have to check through the available display resolutions to get the optimum picture, but I don't want to have that Out of Range box reappear!!!

Many thanks for your help.

Cheers!
