Windows 10: Auto Create System Restore Points Every 20 Mins

[link to this post]

I noticed this regularly happening recently during the whole time the PC was awake, thus producing reams of Restore points. There had been no Windows Installs in the meantime that would account for new Restore points. So I can only assume that this started with the Nov. Windows Update but I hadn't noticed until more recently & I had done a Disk Clean-up on 1st Dec which cleared back to just the latest Restore point.

I looked at all the places I could find where auto Restore points may be scheduled but could find nothing wrong.

However yesterday with the receipt of the Dec. Windows Update no more extra Restore points have been created. The problem went away.

I've seen no reports of others experiencing this but I can't believe that this issue is peculiar to me & my PC. This is the 2nd time in as many months where a Windows Update has introduced peculiar behaviour to be corrected in the next. Could it be that sloppy care is being given to the free last-ditch 1-year Extended Security Updates for Win 10?

If you don't monitor your Restore points, you might notice your PC slowing up, hesitating or more than usual disk usage.

With Win 10 being EOL maybe it was under reported. Everyone was abandoning it and bugs are not being reported. I recently had a problem with a WU not installing going from preview Win 11 back to normal, but within a week on patch Tuesday it was fixed. Maybe it's what happened with your Win 10?
