Program loading problem

[link to this post]

Hello, not a newbie - just can't login.
Just recently Windows will not allow me to install programs that I previously installed and or downloaded.
I'm told
"An update is being prepared for your device, but it's not quite ready yet. We'll keep trying or you can try again now" tried too many times...
Any thoughts, as I tried to update Replay Media Converter (Applian), but all I did was lose what I had!
Cheers, Les.

Go to settings - update and security and see what windows update is doing. If it is getting ready to install the latest version of windows in the background it could be blocking you installing new software until it is finished.

Hi Moto - sorry for the delay in replying, but I've been having "login issues" with TBB.
Windows, yesterday, finally deigned to let my Win 10 update!
Everything now works fine - but I'd been waiting weeks for it to do so.
It seems many have had the problem of "initialising/waiting to update"...
Cheers again, Les.

Hopefully they have now fixed the NAS problems that Update 2004 has caused to quite a few people, I had to get M$ Tech support to assist me, ending up with a roll back on my main PC, unfortunately the other PC had expired it's roll back timing, so I now have to transfer files between the 2 machines using a portable USB3 drive, luckily it's only a few files, because the second PC still cannot access the NAS drives

How about accessing the NAS via FTP? It's much faster than SMB.

You can even use File Explorer. Just type ftp://<address> in the address bar.

I know millions of us use Windows - but it can be a pain in the backside, at times.
My problem "seems" to have been solved - up to now.
Hope you get yours resolved soon.
Cheers, Les.

Couldn't get ftp to work, but have finally sussed it using Beyond Compare 4, can now happily keep the data synchronised between the 2 PCs and can access the 2 NAS drives from the 2nd one smile smile smile
