DNS issues

[link to this post]

Anyone else having major browsing issues today?

Seems to be taking an age for sites to appear - I suspect its a DNS issue.

See the locked thread just below. Seems to be getting worse today for me. Definitely Zen DNS, as it's awful on the laptop which uses Zen, but no problems on the server (which uses treewalk).

Getting worse. Just tried to tracert from a dos prompt to google and bbc. I gave up on the bbc and took over 10 tries for tracert to pick up the google ip.

For some reason my home network times out on all trace route steps except the final one so I can't see which gateway I'm connected to.

And how do I check which dns I'm using? ipconfig doesn't seem to tell me and I know the system picks it up automatically.

You can use IPConfig to get the DNS - add the /all switch.

I.e. ipconfig /all

It'll be listed under DNS Servers.

Yeh, saw the abortive thread below but that referred to issues on Thursday which were allegedly fixed. This morning is the first time Ive had problems.

It was a pain in the butt for me yesterday. All the "usual" sites affected: BBC, eBay, Google, etc. Seems OK today..at least for me.

I escaped from Pussnet September last year and this is the first system issue I've seen with Zen. I'm interested to see how quickly they deal with it.

I use OpenDNS's servers, it's 100ms delay to their servers but I don't notice any delays whilst browsing.

Here they are:

Primary Server: 208.67.222.222
Secondary Server: 208.67.220.220

OpenDNS also help to protect you against Phising websites and correct mis-spelt domain names for you. They're opening a DNS server in London as well.
