Zen is one of the UK's oldest internet providers. UKFSN is a reseller of Entanet services.

That's really going to help the OP make up his mind, isn't it ?

I would choose zen providing that the usage allowance that they offer is sufficient for your needs, I doubt that there will be a lot of difference at the moment but I would expect a change in UKFSN's terms before long when they get all the really high usage users that have been chased off here by Zen's introduction of a usage cap on their previously unlimited legacy product.

Really ? A choice between an established ISP and a relative newbie reseller isn't helping ?

My opinion ?

Just put OL16 5EA (Zen's postcode) and WD6 4EL (UKFSN's postcode) into Google Earth mapping, and take a look. Who would I prefer to have supplying my internet connection ? A company with a huge headquarters in Lancashire, or a company that appears to operate from a semi-detached house in Hertfordshire ?

If it were me, as both are on a monthly contract I would try the cheaper option and see how it works out.

I wouldn't pay too much attention to comments knocking resellers, in the case of Entanet resellers such as UKFSN all the actual billing and admin is handled by Entanet (99.99% sure of that but you might want to check) so there is very little risk of being left high and dry if anything changes with the reseller.

cheers,
Paul

I moved from Zen to UKFSN/Enta several months ago and while I had no complaints about Zen, neither do I have any complaints about UKFSN or Entanet. OK, there are fewer "free" add-ons with UKFSN, like less webspace but if that isn't an issue I see nothing wrong with saving a few

Given that Entanet assures the billing and 24/7 support of all UKFSN broadband sign-ups, it's only fair to show what the Entanet headquarters look like, before jumping into conclusions.

For those who haven't seen it yet, be ready for quite a surprise, to say the least...

In fact doing that shows nothing at all about Zen, it shows a building site where Zens offices are. The large place on the right with a large carpark is the local Garden Nursery.

As for UKFSN being a one man band operating from a semi-detached house in Hertfordshire, you only have to look at the likes of Plusnet to realise that a nice HQ doesn't necessarily imply a good service.

I don't doubt that, and I'm not inferring that a large office is any guarantee of superior service, or I'm not inferring that you won't get good service from UKFSN.

It's down to just one thing - if I had to bet which ISP I would bet on still be here in 5 years time, my money would have to be on Zen. That's my only reason for recommending them over UKFSN.
