Hi guys,
Hopefully somebody can shed light on what solutions can be made to try and fix my pretty awful ADSL connection recently.
About 4 weeks ago, had a problem in that my router kept disconnecting and resyncing, this fault went through Zen and BT and finally was fixed after 5 weeks. However I noticed on Friday that my sync speed had dropped to 750kbps and my BRAS profile had indeed crashed to around 135kbps.
Took the usual steps of contacting Zen support who instructed me to plug into the test socket, which I did for 2 days and then contacted them again and no drop-outs. Plugged back into my bedroom (on an extension) and then the sync speed kept dropping at regular intervals. Have changed every single micro-filter in the house incase it was that with no luck.
Plugged back into test socket for another 24 hours and Zen support said it was connected for 23 hours etc.
I currently have one of the ADSL-Nation face plates on the master socket which is currently wired so that the extensions are unfiltered so that ADSL can be used, however I changed this earlier so that all extensions are filtered, and the router is connected via the ADSL port on the front, however everytime a telephone was picked up, this caused the connection to disconnect and resync again. I decided to change back to having them unfiltered, however the same problem occured, in that every time a phone was used, it would cut the Internet. So currently, my router is plugged into the test socket behind and its syncing at about 1888kbps.
What would be the best course of action from now on? - when the previous fault occured, I did have 3 BT engineers who came out and said the internal wiring was fine, although I understand it can degrade over time etc.
Sorry for the long post, any suggestions would be really welcome, at a loss now as to what to do.
Thanks again
James
