Does BT ever restart the 10 day training period?

[link to this post]

The reason I ask is, a connection look after has recently been migrated to Zen( from pipex Solo 1000).

During the 10 day trial period the DG834 V1 (firmware v3.01.31) router was hanging and required a power cycle, about half way though the training, things appeared to settle down.
Every thing was great, synced about 6.5Mbs with a stable connection. Not overly worried about top speed

Then about 2 days after the 10 days training the sync speed jumped from approx 6.5 to 7 Mbs and the connection is now unstable with the DG834 hanging, this has been happening for the last 4 days (approx).

One thing to note is the connection was stable with a noise margin of approx 9db, and with 7MBs it

Don't guess your BRAS profile, look at it with speedtester.bt.com

Your stats showed 9 dB margin
ADSL Link Downstream Upstream Connection Speed 6688 kbps 448 kbps Line Attenuation 25 db 15.5 db Noise Margin 9 db 22 db

The speed sucks for a 25 dB attenuation. Filtering etc ? Test socket ?

All the 10 day process does is capture the lowest sync speed as the Maximum Stable Rate. That's it.

Netgears seem to be good at reporting wandering SNR data.

It's also available via the "Zen Customer Portal" via 'My Services', expand 'Internet Access' (via plus button) then click on 'Tools and Settings' In the "Dropdown" box, select 'Broadband Line Data'.

Is that always exactly the IP Profile ? I ask because other ISPs have similar systems that aren't actually the IP Profile but may be what it should be etc.

Who knows but here's a screenshot which has recorded sync and BRAS profiles in the table.

Zen claim that their portal data (for line speeds etc) comes direct from BT, and I've no reason to believe otherwise.

Edit: sorry, had a Pipex fixation when I posted that reply - I'd just left their forum

I'm sure it does come from BT. The challenge is whether it is actually the prevailing BRAS profile or "something else". Early on there were several systems logging the "delta report" aka "what the BRAS profile should be" or perhaps "the data input to the BRAS setting algorithm" but various users found this to be "not the BRAS profile".

The Zen screenshot above only shows a full set of data for the last two results. To be certain one would need to run the BT speedtester and compare with the portal.

Thanks, sorry I may have confused you.
I did check the profile on the BT and Zen site and it shows 4.5Mb, although I can only transfer just over the 2Mb limit, no reported exchange congestion I can only guess its down the metallic fault.

I did just that last night. The stats on the portal (see here) show the BRAS profile as being 6000 (adsl6000) for my line, and the BT Speedtester similarly reports my profile as being 6000, as shown here.
