THIS IS A COPY OF THE POST made by reidca here:
---------------------
We are pleased to announce the BETA clients for the Broadband Web Service are now available for all customers to try. This is an invitation to all customers to take part in the BETA program. The full release will take place in a few weeks and appropriate announcements will be made on the Broadband product pages and in the portal.
The Windows Forms .NET 2.0 package (in Zip file format) is available here:-
https://portal.zen.co.uk/UserFiles/Downloads/BroadbandUsageChecker_v2.0.1.0.zip
The other clients are available here:-
http://tools.zensupport.co.uk/usagechecker/
(Only use the latest versions of these as the previous versions are unlikely to work)
Please note the following before trying these clients:-
- All clients are still BETA products and as such you may experience bugs although as at this moment there are only two minor known issues with the Windows client (see below)
- The Windows client is still in BETA form and will expire on 1st August 2007. After this time, it is hoped that the official release should have been made and the clients will have a home within the portal or the Zen support site and a download link for a version that does not expire will be available. If this is not the case, a new BETA will be issued.
- The clients are NOT supported in anyway by customer services or technical support therefore please do not call either number to report issues with the clients.
- All feedback and issues regarding these clients should be sent to [email protected] OR logged on the forum here.
- Please do send us feedback and leave comments here. All feedback, good or bad is welcome.
If you wish to develop your own client then you are welcome to do so. The WSDL file is available here:-
https://webservices.zen.co.uk/broadband/v3.00/serviceengine.asmx
One of our existing customers has already developed their own PERL interface which is available here:-

Installation:
The installation is different for different clients. The section covers just the Windows forms client.
YOU MUST HAVE LOCAL ADMIN RIGHTS TO INSTALL THIS APPLICATION.
- The package is a zip file.
- Download the file locally, extract and install by running the setup.exe program.
- The program requires the .NET framework version 2.0. If this is not installed locally, the setup program will download it for you and install it.
- The program requires WSE 3.0.If this is not installed locally, the setup program will download it for you and install it.
- When installed, run the program by choosing the Zen Internet>Broadband Usage Checker icon in the start menu. A shortcut should also be on your desktop.
The first time the program runs it will ask you to accept the license agreement then enter your portal username and password. These must be correct in order for you to continue.
Once installed and running, the program will appear in the System tray (near the clock).
You can:-
- hover over the icon to return the default account information
- left click to return more detailed information for the default account
- right click to access the context menu and see the other options
Full help guides and KB articles will become available when the product is released.
Known Issues (Windows .NET client)
- When there is a large number of accounts (50+) in the context menus, the account list scrolls off the screen.
- The help link in the main menu currently goes to a non-existent page in the portal.
Thank you for reading this far! We hope these clients are a useful addition to your Zen broadband package.
Remember, all comments and feedback is welcome.
