Zen email question from a Nildram (Pipex) Customer

[link to this post]

Hi am currently a Nildram customer, but now that Pipex (Nildram's owner) have been bought out by Tiscali, will have to consider my choice of future ISP.

So a question regarding Zen email.

My Nildram email address is [email protected] so far so good, now I have a couple of domain names registered with BT Domains (don't laugh!).

These do not have any mailbox's associated with them, all they do is forward incoming emails addressed [email protected] and anything @mydomain.org.uk to [email protected]

Now for outgoing email I could use the standard [email protected] as the From E-mail Address and the Reply E-Mail address (as per setting up in Outlook 2003) ie a bog-standard set up.

However, with Nildram there is no problem with me using [email protected] (or the .org.uk one) as my E-mail Address and Reply E-mail address in Outlook 2003 and this then is used as the header on my out-going emails. Obviously for the fields for UserName and Password are [email protected] and password

Would I have any problems using the same procedure with Zen? ie I am sending via their SMTP server but using my own registered (with BT not with Nildram/Zen) domain details.

(I understand that some ISP's do not allow such use of their SMTP server)

Thanks

Clive

ps - for receiving email, I just read my [email protected] POP3 mailbox as normal. Outlook 2003 allows me to set up which accounts are for read only, send only and also give a drop down choice of sending account.

You will be able to use the same set up with Zen
