5years and 4 months of flawless service..

[link to this post]

But it's time to move on, my exchange has just last night been upgraded with BeThere LLU equipment and I couldn't help but be attracted by a 13 per month reduction together with the likely speed improvement (up and down) and unlimited downloads (though I rarely exceeded 20GB or so anyway). The final straw was a mate I trust telling me he'd had no problems with 'Be' as my expectations are now pretty high after being with ZeN for so long.
So thanks to all, especially for the candid insights provided by ZeN staff, ZeN Internet are still the ISP I recommend to anybody who cares about flawless service (from a technical and Customer Service point of view).
I'll possibly come back if ZeN manage to LLU my local exchange!

Dave.

Hi Dave/Wolf
I'm sorry to see you both deciding to leave us after all this time and would like to say thank you for your valued custom over the years that you have been with us.

I'd also like to wish you both well with your chosen ISP's. If we can be of service to you again in the future please let me or anyone of the team know.

Best wishes
Gary

Cheers Gary, I can honestly say I feel pretty bad for leaving, I'm normally pretty dispassionate over service providers (not ISPs), but I felt a kind of belonging with ZeN for some reason I think it's partly because people at ZeN helped with the broadband campaign we were running back in 2002 (goes misty eyed lol).
I'll pop back in now and again, and as I said, if you're in a position to LLU any more exchanges, perhaps I'll be back again!

Dave.

i can only re-iterate what dave has said. the only reason i've left is cost. i couldn't justify 30 per month anymore when there were so many "better" deals around. i now get 4 times the speed for one third the cost. sure the legendary Zen CS won't be around but Sky aren't as bad as people make out. when my line was taken over by Sky a fault that had been present with Zen but caused no problems on 1 Mbit suddenly became a big issue at 4Mbit . within a week i'd had 2 visits by BT and the fault resolved (a rusty drop cable) and (touch wood) the connection is great. sky's tier 3 were TBH as knowledgable and friendly as Zen's TS. so to once again re-iterate what dave has said if you ever LLU my exchange then i'll probably be back.

Good Luck Irby - hope it all turns out ok for you.

>> think it's partly because people at ZeN helped with the broadband campaign we were running back in 2002

Yeah I know that feeling (although Zen didnt have anything to do with ours)..... but I did pre-reg with Zen.

Those were the days eh... 2002/2003 and watching that thermometer and willing it to hit the 400 mark. We had 5 exchanges and went out "for a few drinkies" when the final one hit target

/me also goes all misty eyed for my own reasons - god bless ya Marko.

I was with Zen myself a while back, service was great and the C/S was very helpful in getting BT to recognise that my line could handle a faster speed than BT thought, however I am now on Be* and am currently in sync at 1300/11628

I've been online with Be a few days now, apart from a minor hiccouph when routers were in short supply and not being sent out quickly enough (my router arrived on the day of activation in the end - phew), I've had no problems so far. I have a Attenuation of 42.5db downstream and am getting about 7.5mbps download and about 1mbps upload.

That compares with my last ZeN speedtest - http://www.speedtest.net/result/247594288.png

I've registered my own domain to make up for the lack of free email with Be and that's only costing about 3 per month for unlimited email accounts and webspace too.

So happy to be with Be, but I'd like to thank ZeN for the efficient way they handled my migration away from them.

Good luck all,
Dave.

Yes Good Luck. I have been with Zen for one year and a day today and very happy with the service. Never had to speak to anyone and that's the way i like it.

I've been with Zen since May 2003 and i'm also considering a move away just because of the cost. I'd like to go to Be but they're not in my area yet so my only alternative is with Sky.
