Yes it is Official: I have just had the confirmation from Netgear.

The new firmware has been Released!

The new firmware combines a new DSL code from Infineon which addressees the LOM (Loss of Margin) drops whereby the modem re-syncs when the SNR margin fluctuates. Zen have tested the new firmware at on DSL max lines prior to the release and Netgear have now released it to the public.

I'm slightly confused, though. The link you posted takes us to version 4.01.37. Downloaded and installed ok. But the main support page still shows version 4.01.30 dated only a few days ago yet the actual download page for .30 is dated Sept 2007.

Is .37 officially released or is it still beta?

The Version 4.01.37 is offical and not beta, if you check http://kbserver.netgear.com/products/dg834v3.asp you will see its updated there it just seams as though they have not fully updated the DG834Gv3 support page yet.

Pity they've stopped supporting the v1 and v2. A similar "DSL fix" may be possible for those as well.

It's good to see that Zen have continued to follow this problem up. Hopefully other adsl router/modem manufacturers will take note of Netgear's lead.

Fixed a problem where the router could not connect wirelessly to PS3 using WPA-PSK.


Woohoo! Hopefully this will also mean my Wii can now connect under WPA too. Will report back later with the results.

Tried the new firmware, it's worse than the last one.

Still cannot connect to anything using anything above WEP.

And now a new issue, the wireless light no longer flickers when there's wireless activity.

Going to go back to the previous version.

have you tried upgrading the firmware again.

I have three test kits going, 1 with a PS3 and 2 with different laptops. All lights flash with the activity and all connect properly.

If you mean have I tried flashing it with the same firmware twice, then no. I usually take it as read that if it don't work the first time, then it isn't going to work the second time round.

I am contemplating buying a PS3 so I will be wanting to use WPA - the Wii is supposed to be able to do WPA out of the box but the router isn't even trying to look interested when I use WPA. Same issue with two wireless desktops and a wireless laptop, all will work fine with WEP but not WPA or WPA2 (yes I did install the M$ WPA(2) patches).
