BRAS Profile

[link to this post]

My telephone has developed a fault with a very loud hissing/crackling noise on the line. This in turn had affected my broadband connection by cutting the speed in half and my Bras profile has dropped to 3000 from 7150. I have a guy coming later today to hopefully fix the problem but I wanted to know how long it will take for my Bras profile to go back to normal? Is this something that happens automatically or do I need to contact someone about restoring it?

Cheers.

Big profile jumps should change within 24hrs, provided it's stable. Small profile jumps are anything up to 5 days (stability dependant).

However, sometimes even a big profile jump can take a few days to 'take'.

I'm not too sure what defines a "Big" jump, but i've seen it change quite quickly for a 1Mbit step.

Hope that helps a bit

When my line jumped from 4.5Mbit to 7.5Mbit, the BRAS profile took around 24 hours to get up to 7000 from 4500.

Thanks for your posts guys. BT guy came this afternoon and had to replace the cable from the master socket to the first extension. Hopefully my Bras profile will go back to normal soon.

Cheers.
