Podcast: interview with Richard Tang

[link to this post]

Hi,

Just randomly spotted this while Googling for something else:

http://businessearsnorthwest.co.uk/blog/2008/06/06/show-026-what-makes-zen-internet-ltd-one-of-the-uks-most-successful-isps-richard-tang-md-and-founder-tells-us-more/

Interesting listening for anyone curious about Zen's history and growth.

What a good interview! RT stands out from the crowd because he doesn't use hyperbole, buzz words or weasel words. He doesn't avoid or evade questions. And because he cares more about the quality of Zen's service than the size of his bank balance. He should be forced to wear rubber gloves and pyjamas all day - and never allowed out in case he gets run over by a bus.

What a modest person, and indeed, answers questions directly

Listening to Richard, it is easy to understand how he has built such a successful company.

Who does that remind you of? I remember another "ISP boss" who was just as modest, open/honest and direct

Erm, clue, erm, that's actually quite hard!

okay, about 6 years ago he did a live Questions & Answers on here with users to help sort out the broadband issues occuring. He took a lot of flack at the time but was open, honest and fair. He sold the company for around 51m.

Am sure Pipexer will know the answer

6 years ago I was still on dial-up.

Rural exchange; did not get broadband till August 2004 so I had no real interest in broadband affairs prior to that date.
