Anyone else getting connection drops lately?
I have no idea whats causing them but i've been getting alot of disconnctions the past 2 weeks. My router used to be able to stay connected well over 400 hours at a time. Now it seems to rarely make it over 40 hours before it disconnects. Whats worse it seems unable to reconnect automaticly anymore and will stay disconnected till i manualy hit disconnect then reconnect. Or sometimes i even have to reboot the router before it will connect again. I've changed no settings on router and there have been no changes to phones or anything phoneline related.
This is my current line stats keep in mind im on legacy sync capped 1mbit service not max dsl.
ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 1152 kbps 288 kbps
Line Attenuation 41.0 db 23.0 db
Noise Margin 28.9 db 30.0 db
Anyhelp with this is appreciated.

My main Zen (legacy) connection here has been up for 497 hours and counting .....
..... and disconnected then, only because I reset the router.
(although, to keep the record straight, I should say that my Max service from EntaNet also has a long uptime)
I would think that your problems lie elsewhere than with Zen.

Possibly your router is on its way out?

Only christmas lights we have are the ones on the christmas tree. That is no where near the router but it is slightly close to the phone socket. But i can rule that out cause todays disconnect occured when the lights were off.
I hope the router isn't on its way out its like 7 months old max. I still have my old router but it has no wireless capability which is why i got the new one earlier this year. Cause i got my first laptop at the same time.
It might still be under garantee i keep the reciepts for everything over 40 or so i buy in this draw in my room. I'll continue to monitor the router's performance over the next few weeks and see what its uptime is like.

Still worth connection the old router for a while to see if that suffers the same disconnections.
You could use the new router simply as a wireless access point with a few tweaks to its settings.

Mines on 359 hours would have been longer but we had a BT outage a while back

Same here. Seem to maintain a layer 2 dsl connection, but dropping at layer 3 until it either resurrects itself, or I ping something.

I dont understand that stuff about layer 2 and 3. But i should have pointed out that it never loses sync!

Mines at 2855 hours and going strong!

Bear in mind it's not just your Christmas lights, but any which may be near the route your phone line takes to the exchange...

Well anykind of noise interfering with the connection would make it lose sync right?
Remember it never actually loses sync it says "lcp is down"
|
|
|
|
Not necessarily; it may just make the line unable to pass any useful data but the sync may remain.

Ive had a couple on my ST 784 but only since the wife put up our christmas tree and two sets of lights.

Looks like you managed to dodge the load-balancing earlier then

I am also getting connection drops, usually around 20:00-22:00, had a few the other weekend at ~20:30 then ~21:30, and just had one now at 22:14.
Usually rock solid.

Maybe this is due to christmas all the people/houses with christmas lights between our phonelines and the exchange causing problems. The disconnections do seem rather random my router may make it 10 hours or 60 hours before disconnecting it's very random.
