Anyone else got a VAT change Invoice?

[link to this post]

I left Zen almost around 3 months ago now and I've just received an invoice for 22p because of an incorrect charging of VAT apparently.

Is this because it's the end of the tax year and any errors are being brought to light?

Why not phone them up and ask to pay by debit card! That will cost them 50p !

Interesting, I didn't know that....

It annoys me to get this charge (albeit 22p) as it's not that clear as to how it's derived and especially in light of the agro I had this year when they took monies out of my account (24.99) when i was no longer their customer.
They messed me around on paying back that Direct Debit taken in error and i had to keep chasing it.
So I find it a little odd to get this invoice with this amount almost 3 months after i migrated away.

What about paying by instalments? Say over 5 months with a Debit Card payment each time!

I couldn't remember if the credit/debit cards had a prefferred minimum payment, ie no transactions less than a pound (for example)

Don't think there is a minimum transaction size from the credit card perspective, but the merchant may impose one because it costs them money for each transaction.
I have purchased an MP3 track costing 49p on my credit card, and it appeared as a single transaction on my statement.

Unfortunately one of the weakest parts of Zen IMHO is the accounting system. I assume that you've checked your portal, to see if you have any credit notes showing, because these are not refunded automatically ?

I have had refunds of 1 or 2p from Amazon on my credit card (due to price changes on pre-ordered items). I was surprised they bothered with such a small amount, the paper work must have cost them more than the refund.

The credit note "problem" was sorted just before Zen took £24.99 wrongly from me when I was no longer a customer - so after spending time getting that refunded as it wasn't straightforward (forget about the DD guarantee), I thought everything was now straight.

I can only assume that it is accounts time and Zen are asking for this 22pence as they've made another error in their accounting, albeit in this case to do with VAT.

It annoys me because it's just a waste of time for all parties. I never received any compensation when they wrongly took and held my money and here they are billing me 22pence for the VAT on a short billing period this year - which is derived from another error on their part.

I have called them and have now emailed the person who finally dealt with my refund earlier this year, although I've got an email back saying a response may take up to three days.
I might just send them 22pence of copper coins in the post, just to make a point of how crazy all this is.

Something cropped up on the PN Community forums which reminded me of this topic.

http://www.royalmint.com/corporate/policies/legal_te...

Sending them 22 x 1p coins isn't legal tender! tongue
