BT estimate an outage of roughly 40 minutes between the hours of 02:00:00 - 06:00:00, when the SHUB and Line cards are remotely reset to take the new firmware.
I have no details of what the firmware upgrade is for or enables/changes but see below the inital list of exchanges I've had sent to me.
