post up20mbps upgrade Netgear stats OK ?

[link to this post]

This is what I now have after the up to 20mbps upgrade

http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w235/2pods/post21...

This is what I had before

Does everything look OK, or should I have had a higher sync post 20mbps etc ?

Hi,

The downstream snr margin (the 'bit left over' to maintain stability once sync is established) is running at around 6db - so fairly minimal, which is good and means the line is running about as fast as it will go. Sync is around 14Mbps on what looks to be a medium-length line with 28db downstream attenuation - looks pretty good to me smile

You could try connecting your router to the master test socket if you want to see if you can 'squeeze' a bit more sync speed out of your line - see

Spoke too soon.

My Broadband Speed Test

previously

My Broadband Speed Test

Weird thing is thoght the download speed has dropped from 10mbps to 2mbps, the upload speed has increased from 0.7 to 1005Kbps

I'm into day four of my ten day test, or at least I hope this is what's happening

No changes apart from the router (replaced a Draytek 2600G) away back in March which has been rock solid since, even constantly syncing at 8128 (which I never had with the Draytek).

Everything that should be is filtered.

It's very weird that my upstream has gone up, while my downstream has plummeted

Hi,

That's unlikely - unless your BRAS/IP profile is changing - and that would only occur if your sync speed is dropping too.

More-likely it's local contention; which may be expected to be a bit higher than usual for the next couple of weeks, given Wimbledon coverage, as people at work do tend to make use of streaming servers to watch the matches.

Leo will no doubt look in more detail at your particular circumstances to see if there's anything else at play here.

ta,
Phil.
