Migrate to Zen from TalkTalk LLU

I currently have Line rental + Broadband with Xilo (TalkTalk LLU reseller).

On the Zen site it says £40 connection fee for new customers, however I got an email back stating it would be free.

I would like a second opinion on this on whether migration from any LLU provider to Zen results in a charge from Zen?

Looking at the Office 200GB package.

Had to wait til morning to call, turns out it would be £40+VAT :/

Unfortunately this is likely to be charged irrespective of the ISP you choose if you wish to switch to an ISP that uses BT Wholesale for its ADSL cirsuits unless an ISP agrees to waive the charge but then you are likely to be looking at a lengthy contract.

This is a charge levied by BT because an engineer has to literally disconnect the wires from the LLU provider's equipment and then connect it to BT Wholesale's kit.

You may also find that you can't "migrate" to Zen because you are on an unbundled phone+broadband (MPF) service with Xilo. This means that to have broadband with anyone else such as Zen, you'll first need to move your landline back to BT (or another BT-based provider) which will cause your broadband to stop. You'll then have to place a "new" order with Zen as a migration won't work as Xilo can't provide a MAC on an MPF service due to the way these services work.

Would cost £88 to move to Zen.

I plan to move to a C&W LLU area within the coming months so...

Ouch, I did use O2 for about a month but that was partially unbundled I believe so I did not have to pay when I moved.

Could always look on the price comparison sites to see if a phone company is offering free connection.

Apart from the usage issue, the service is great.

I wouldn't be staying in my current location long enough to complete the contract and when I move I intend to start fresh, ICUK LLU broadband + Phone for £35, had them at uni and they were solid.

We can transfer a full MPF unbundled line line back to the BT network for free on a 3 month contract or £4.99 on a 1 month contract We can also offer a simultaneous provide on that too which is nice.
