I finally got upgraded to the 20 meg service this morning. Just looking for some feedback on my line stats.
Connection Speed 13875 kbps 883 kbps
Line Attenuation 23 db 6.5 db
Noise Margin 6 db 11 db
Everything is stable so far. I know my line was running in forced interleaved mode before the upgrade. No idea if this has transferred over or not.

Sync speed seems low; should be getting over 19 Meg.

Just had a first loss of connection. (TBH i think the router crashed since I couldn't even get to the router setup page)
On rebooting sync has lowered further
Connection Speed 11345 kbps 883 kbps
Line Attenuation 23 db 6.5 db
Noise Margin 7 db 11 db
maybe it's just that my old router can't cope to well with the newer services. (netgear DG834Gv2)

Line Attenuation 23 db 6.5 db Also, your attn. figures look strange. Usually Down = about 2 x UP. Do you have access to another router?

Had an evening to experiment and things are starting to play up now. One moment I can be getting a good speed and then it'll suddenly freeze for about 10 seconds, then I'll get full speed again. The router doesn't loose sync and during the periods of no data I can still load up the router config page
Any ideas?

I've narrowed the cause of the problem to my plasma tv. Whenever it's turned on all throughput stops although the router stays synced. I've tried relocating the router in the house to no effect. Is it possible to go back to the old service since that worked fine?

Hi,
It sounds like the TV is causing high-frequency interference in the higher, extended frequency range that ADSL2+ uses.
You can regrade back to ADSL via the Zen portal, the regrade takes about 24 hours.

|
|
|
That would certainly be the best option for now. I thought I read somewhere that regrading down would only regrade to 8meg over adsl2+. If this isn't the case I'll do that for the time being
|

|
|
You could try forcing the router to use ADSL2 only (without +), if your router supports that - it won't use all the frequencies up to 2.2 Mhz then.
Also, maybe try getting a shielded RJ11 cable (from the splitter to the modem) - it might help matters.

My router doesn't have any options for that. I've emailed support to confirm that downgrading back to 8 meg will involve moving back to normal ADSL. It that's the case I'll go ahead with that

|
I can confirm that our up to 8Mbps services are delivered using ADSL, not ADSL2+

Thanks. Must have been getting mixed up with something else. I'll try regrading back and see how I get on

No problem PM me your username and I'll have a looks at the line to see how it gets on after the regrade.
