Puzzled by router for FTTC connection

I was under the impression that a cable router was needed to connect to the BT-supplied modem for FTTC. But looking at the Technicolour TG582n router I've received from Zen for my upcoming connection, it looks just like an ordinary ADSL modem-cum-router, with a phone-type jack and four ethernet ports...Except that one of the ethernet ports has a little red sticker under it. Is this significant in some way?

if its like the current sky router then one of them lan ports has been hacked to become a wan port (or something like that) anyways you prob use that red port to connect to the modem and use the other three for connection to your devices

Yes, I think you must be right, omni. Anyone from Zen care to give us an definitive comment?

Hi,

The 582n will work with your FTTC connection if you connect to the Ethernet port described. It should automatically sense that you've connected that port to the BT modem. If you've bought it from us with auto-setup it will then configure itself with your username and password to establish a connection, otherwise follow the setup wizard.

Hi Phil, thanks, yes, I did get it from you so should be able to just plug it in - or does the Openreach chap do that? - and away we go. Can hardly wait!

You will plug the TG582N into the OpenReach modem and then make a cup of Tea/Coffee. By the time your done, the service should be connected.
