BT Openreach/Huawei HG612 modem

I've purchased a Huawei HG612 modem to use as a modem on ADSL2+ and use a separate router for devices accessing the internet via ethernet/wifi. I have unlocked the unit and can access the web based gui.

but that only shows how to use it as a modem router.

Anybody know the settings for Zen and how to configure it use on a Zen ADSL2+ service as a modem only? I want the HG612 to sync with the exchange and then use a separate wifi router with a WAN port to input username+password to dial in. I'm thinking about purchasing Asus RT-N66U to be used with this modem if I can get the correct configuration settings for this modem.
Similar to how this modem is used on VDSL service.

Like many I use PPPoE on a FFTC line via a LAN modem to router connection. Apart from all routers requiring your ISP username and password, the actual router set varies from one router manufacturer to another. For example, setting up the Apple airport for PPPoE is simple: the Fritz!Box with its other functions requires details of up and down speeds.

Just go to Basic | ATM to configure the ADSL settings.

It seems that HG612 is difficult to setup or not capable of bridge mode with ADSL with unlocked firmware. It can be setup as modem router, HG612 handles PPPoE.

I'm using my existing Netgear DGND3300v2 Modem/router as a modem only at the moment. The wireless on the Netgear is really bad, hence the decision to buy separate modem and router, gives more flexibility.

I'm looking for a Broadcom chipset based ADSL modem that can do bridge mode. Any recommendations?

It may be difficult to set up for a user, but the unlocking process merely changes the firewall setting so it's unlikely to affect the capability of the modem.
