Zen LLU

[link to this post]

I have managed to to get out of my contract from BT penalty free and I see my exchange has ZEN LLU.

Does this mean my line going no where near the BT network? Apart from my D-side - Cab - exchange.

How is the performance on Zen LLU? and pings from Midlands area to London.

My exchange is Swadlincote.

It's just a pot of luck! If you are getting slow speed with BT but you more likely to get the same with Zen.

Does that mean they'll be using C&W backhaul?

zen have their own LLU equipment they not a reseller. No idea where they get their backhaul from tho.

Sadly for some unusual reason they only enabled one of 2 exchanges in my city centre, mine is the one they didnt enable, I call it unusual as every single other provider enables both if they pick one.

According to this it may be C&W - http://www.zen.co.uk/latest-news/zen-internet-invest... - but I don't know if it applies to Swadlincote exchange

Swadlincote exchange is on Zen LLU according to SamKnows. Presumably this mean a Zen PoP rather than full unbundling. Surprisingly the nearby and much larger Burton on Trent exchange doesn't have a Zen PoP.

The 200 pops also have a MSAN offering ADSL2+ to those connected to the exchange.

The POP for GEA-FTTC serves a wider area as one exchange may be the handover node for a number of smaller FTTC exchange areas.

The ADSL2+ LLU bit was not part of the original pop announcements, but double checked this last week.

Swadlincote got FTTC before Burton too, Burton is one of the worst exchanges I have ever seen, the whole place needs bulldozing down, people can't even get a PSTN service in Burton. So I'm not surprised LLU providers keep clear of it.
