Zen Unlimited Fibre 2 and BiPAC 7800N

[link to this post]

I'm looking at upgrading to Zen Unlimited Fibre 2, but before I do I wanted to check my current router would be sufficient. It's a Billion BiPAC 7800N with an EWAN port. As far as I can tell the 7800N supports PPPoE. Am I right in thinking that this will work ok?

TIA.

Yup, you should be fine. Just connect the BT provisioned VDSL modem to that port you'll be good to go.

A read on the billion uk forum, suggests that you make sure QOS is disabled as if not it will reduce throughput drastically but the billion's Ewan Port is capable of upto 100mbps

Thanks for that, especially the heads-up on the QoS thing, I'll be sure to check it is disabled.

I have been running a 7800N on the Zen Unlimited Fibre 2 since I joined them last year. No problems, although I am not getting quite as good a download now (initially 74, now 72) but upload has gone from 17.6 to 18.3
All in all very happy with my speeds.

BT (poor) -> Zen (excellent) -> O2 (started well, went downhill -> IDNet (No complaints - but 100GB cap) -> Zen (unlimited)
