What about master socket replaced? You still need Openreach engineer to get a new socket MK2 or MK3.

Unless you obtained one from Clarity before they seemed to fall off the edge of the planet...

Hi I phoned them up as excising customer and they took my order. I did get an email saying there would be engineer visit , but as it was such a new service they said to ignore it. The router was sent out and I had about a week before the upgrade. I must say the process was so easy . I do think they are still in the process of changing there updates, but as I say when I got the email and I phoned them they were very helpful, even to the point on the day of the switch over I was at work all day . When I got in at about 6pm my old router was down . I connected my new router and it was not working . I then phoned the technical support line and a very helpful chap said that open reach had only just changed me over so it might take another 3 or 4 hours . In fact I tried it about an hour later and it was working. Give them a ring it is worth it .

Glad to help I think they owe my a zen mug for my recommendation , to be fair I have had the fibre service for about two weeks and it is running so well it makes my happy . My speed has dropped a bit but now seems steady . An example last night I had the football , boxing and a game all running and no dropouts was a delight to test it out .

Jumping on this bandwagon.

Self installed Fibre today.. No issues at all, the old one went off and Zen was online in about 20 mins.

However, my first tests shows a huge 75m/sec download speed, which is what I should get. (fiber 2 and the estimates)
So I decided to download a few gigs to see if it actually sustains that, the router appears to drop out a few times and it seem to get a max of 30 now..

2.1 Type VDSL
2.2 Status Up
2.3 Uptime 0 days 3 hours 6 mins 17 secs
2.4 Line Rate (Down / Up) 79987 kbps / 19999 kbps
2.5 Noise Margin (Down / Up) 9.9 dB / 16.2 dB
2.6 Attenuation (Down / Up) 8.5 dB / 2.9 dB
2.7 Power (Down / Up) 12.6 dBm /

Does something need changing, or is that it now?

Cheers

Sounds like Zen are throttling your connection.

No it doesn't. Zen don't do traffic shaping.

Have you tried the obvious things like connect to your router with a cable rather than over wifi, ran a speed test (http://speedtest.zen.co.uk) and gone through the other various troubleshooting steps?

As you initially got decent speeds the problem is probably local, but if you follow all that and it is still rubbish, contact Zen.

After the router was rebooting every 5/6 mins (Kernal Warm reboot) I had enough, so got a Billion 8800NL, which is just brilliant in every way, from inital setup to control over everything to indepth reporting.

Also it hits my max connection instantly, no ramping or bursting.. Just speed.

Good to hear

I'm not surprised about the router under performing.

Interesting, we're looking at another Zen FTTC connection for our head office (we have one already but being out in the sticks we only get 26Mbit down and 7Mbit up).

Is this any cheaper than the engineer installed options?
