Latency

Just did a test of my broadband line speed and got this:

71.4 Mbps (bursting to 73.8) Down

18.6 Mbps (bursting to 20.6) Up

Your Latency: 27 ms, Buffer Bloat!

Why is the latency so high, and what does buffer bloat mean?
How to improve?

This is latency of a small packet over TCP, so pings may be lower.

A faster download does not always equal better latency, as it will depend on what interleaving/error correction is in use on your FTTC line, in addition to your location in the UK.

Buffer bloat refers to the effect on latency when downloading or uploading.
