Zen install cost w/new line

I've been trying to find out the cost of installing Zen on a new line. The Zen website is no help and apparently Zen can't answer this one..(!!)

Has anyone had an install recently and tell me the total cost? Trying to work out whether it's worth just calling BT and getting a line for £65 or whether Zen are cheaper.

A new telephone line is £118
ADSL activation is £48
FTTC activation is £30

You only need pay either the ADSL or FTTC activation charge, depending on which product you want. I believe these prices all include VAT.

I would be surprised if a new install from BT is only £65, their install charges used to be quite steep, hence the expensive charge passed on from Zen.

Edit: Just spotted the 'online special offer' from BT. Usual price is £130. I would check line rental over 12 months for each and see which one would be cheaper in the long run.

I'd try calling Zen, I'd be surprised if they would not match BTs special offer. Hint: They just did that for me

£59 line activation charge
£30 broadband activation charge (unlimited adsl, 1 month contract)
Both plus vat.

Lucky.. I haven't even been able to pin them down on a cost yet.

They seem quite reticent to sell lines - I guess it's not a big thing for them.

So are you trying to get just a phone line from them? No broadband?
In that case I can see why they are not really interested, they are after all a broadband provider

No phone + FTTC, but I've not got a straight answer yet, hence the thread (I was asked to send my details, sent them everything they asked for, salesman didn't even bother to read them and just replied with a generic answer).

I'll probably just go with a BT line.. I can have that ordered tonight and sort out the FTTC later.

odd, but I get the impression you are doing this by email? I did it by phone and got a very helpful salesman.

BT yuk, and the most expensive, try pulse 8 they do new lines for £90 and it's £13 per month line rental for voice only

don't forget Zen charge more for FTTC if you don't have the line rental with them!

Zen charges around £120 for new line installation and £30 for fibre activation... however these prices may have changed due to changes in Wholesale costs since I last enquired.

All providers pay the same amount to get lines connected but most "Big" providers such as BT/Sky will absorb that cost in exchange for you taking a contract (which with "some" providers can be longer than 12/18 months)

I would recommend giving Zen's sales a call or email and they will be able to help you out and maybe check if they can or cannot activate an already existent line.
