Questions about migrating from Zen ADSL to Zen Fibre

Has anyone else migrated from Zen ADSL to Zen Fibre/knows the answers to these?

My questions are:

Do you automatically keep the same IP address?

How long does it typically take to migrate?

Do you use the same username and password? If so, can you plug in a suitable VDSL/ADSL modem in advance of migration and only have a few seconds downtime at the point ADSL is stopped and VDSL enabled?

I don't currently have Zen line rental, and wouldn't want it at first. The price quoted when I go to upgrade to Unlimited Fibre 2 from the control panel is £29.50 excluding VAT (£35.40 inc vat, which is the price quoted for Without Line Rental on the Zen website). Can I safely assume my line rental would remain with BT in that case?

I migrated from ADSL to FTTC (and moved home at the same time!)

You can not keep the same IP addresses
You will get a new username

Unless you already have a "VDSL" style BT socket the Openreach Engineer will probably install one for you, if you haven't had VDSL before an engineer is required to go to your local CAB so will probably want to test the line from your home too.

Various (Dile up) -> clara.net (Dile up) -> TELE2 (Microwave) -> ZeN (ADSL)

When I moved from Zen ADSL to Zen FTTC, I kept the same IP & login. I wonder if your situation was affected by the home move.

Same here, kept the same IP's and login credentials. Changeover at that time meant waiting in for OR engineer to bring modem and faceplate, so can't say how long the actual change took.

Some Zen FTTC installs don't end up with an engineer visit now. Zen just sends a dangly microfilter with the router. I think that's what happens if you ask for self install.

Openreach modems are no longer being supplied as standard AFAIK.

That what happen to us.

Regraded from ADSL2+ to Zen Unlimited Fibre 2 in May.

I set the default supplied router (ZyXEL VMG1312-B10D) up on the ADSL2+ connection a few days before.

Came home on day of changeover to find router not connecting, changed a couple of setting and it authenticated immediately.
