I have a VDSL service on a longish line with a TP-Link W9970 modem and normally get ~8 Mb/s d/l speeds. The connection is normally very reliable. My exchange is Hassocks and I assume it all runs on Openreach infrastructure.
On sunday afternoon for around 4 hrs the link was up and down every few minutes and the modem log showed the LCP was disconnecting every few minutes:

I tried pinging 8.8.8.8 and after the LCP reconnected the time would be 100 ms and then deteriorate to 10-30 sec followed by an LCP disconnect.
At 19:30 it all reverted to normal with pings around 9 ms and no disconnects.
Any suggestions as to what the cause might be?
