Wifi extender

Hi folks.

Can I use a 3rd party wifi extender with Zen’s supplied Fritzbox, or does it have to be an AVM one.

Hi

I have used a BT wifi extender in the past with my fritzbox it worked okay, If you are wanting the devices to integrate with the mesh system on the fritzbox, then unfortunately it wont work. Only fritz devices are compatible according to the manual for the 7530.

I've used 2nd hand FritzBox4040 and a FB3490 to act as Mesh WiFi repeaters to existing FB 7530 - both fed via network cable in increase coverage at two sites. Seems to work well, WiFi settings automatically transferred from FB Mesh master.

I have a Zen supplied 3490 and have turned the WiFi off on it.

Instead I have three BT Whole Home Wifi disks linked via a Netgear GS108 switch to the 3490. We use just the BT WiFi and it works great.
