Sales questions

[link to this post]

I sent Zen an email a week ago, but no reply yet (not a good start!)

Where can I find their prices for broadband without line rental? The FAQ says this is an option, but I can't find any prices.
Do they have an SoGEA option for FTTC?
Can you request the date for the Direct Debit to be taken?

Simon.

Its worth calling them instead, you should get through to someone fairly sharpish and they will be able to guide you through it all.

I started the ball rolling for our FTTP by calling first, after I was in regular email contact with the same person I spoke to.

Visit https://www.zen.co.uk do the postcode search and if the with/without line rental packages are available to you, then you will see a Broadband and Line Rental toggle at the top of the list on the results page.

Thanks MrSaffron,

I'm just offered Unlimited Fibre 1 or 2, both including line rental, and the only option being EveryRoom.

Put both your postcode and phone number into the checker. Select your package and on the next page there is an option to say you are keeping your line rental with another provider.

Select that option and you get a broadband only price - it's only £6 cheaper for FTTC, but it does give you the option.

I have recently placed an order with Zen for Fibre Unlimited 2, but I didn't have an 'active' phone line, having unsubscribed from Zen a couple years ago.

My only option was to pay £50 to activate a phone line, though I would have liked the option to save a £6 as I certainly don't need a phone line at all.

I've emailed Zen asking if they can do this SoGEA thing.

Got it! - I hadn't been entering my number until later in the order process.

£22 vs. £29.99 for Unlimited Fibre 1

Just had a word with Zen and they told me it's "not something we provide to consumer customers, only business at the moment"

Just unplug the landline. It's basically the same service.

The E-Side copper to the exchange remains connected on SOGEA on every line.

The cost difference between a bundled service and SOGEA is more than often nil, sometimes pennies, and if you're lucky £1 or £2.
There's no difference to the xDSL performance.
With SOGEA the line rental is basically incorporated in to the price.

The only reason the price difference is so high in the example in the post above is because that's the price if you pay another ISP for the landline.
