Sudden jump in latency

I posted another thread about the connection dropping. It seems my connection has suddenly experienced a significant increase in latency at around the same time.

My modem is still syncing at the same rate and hasn't had any disconnections. That leads me to believe it's not a problem with my DSL line, but rather a problem further upstream.

Anyone else experiencing something similar?

Seems it was related to something doing a backup (probably Amazon photos) that hadn't been run in a while.

Depending on what router you have, you may be able to configure it in order that such effects on your connection are minimized. Such options are often called fq-codel, smart queues, etc. You have some slightly reduced maximum throughput per device, but the connection works much better under heavily loaded situations.

Yeah, I'm aware of QoS settings. It wasn't really impacting actual use enough to notice, just showing up on the graph.
