100 down/40 up FTTP product, please?

[link to this post]

Hi

As the title suggests this is more in the hope that one of the good people from Zen sees it and inputs back into the product development process.

I've been a happy customer since 2014 but have dealt with Zen on and off since 2010 (leaving only because tech support couldn't do anything more to stabilise my ridiculously long line when you were subject to BT's DLM.)

Went in search of stability and found with an LLU supplier but came back when you unbundled the exchange I'm on, after a bit of work by yourselves and OR I got a stable 4 meg but would flap in December due to Christmas lights and adapters.

As I need to be able to work from home went FTTP in Jan 2018 (BTW tail) on 38 down and 9 up, upgraded to 76 down and 18 up in March last year when started WFH and to 100 down and 18 up in September when that product came out.

Connection has been rock solid (dropped once for about 5 minutes one day but that has been the only disruption) and I've no intention of going elsewhere, it's been superb and on the extremely rare occasions I’ve had to call in the team are a pleasure to deal with.

As I provide technical support in a corporate IT department, I have the need to be able to upload large files on occasion but don't need the 300 down and 47 up

If there room for a product with 100 down and perhaps 40 up in between the 100 and 300 meg products for perhaps 2-3 quid more a month?

Thanks and keep up the excellent work.

BT Wholesale do not have an FTTP product that provides this - these are the ones available:

Zen can only sell what they can buy.

The closest OpenReach product is 100/30Mb but Zen wouldn't be able to offer this nationwide as BT Wholesale don't sell that tier.

That somewhat restricts Zen to the BT Wholesale offerings in the post above.

The only way they could get round this is to buy a higher tier and cap the downstream, but this would cost more.
It makes more sense to just buy the next package up (including higher downstream) than it does artificially capping products.

Current OpenReach tiers and pricing

If you are lucky enough to live in an area where Zen are reselling CityFibre then symmetrical connections are available.

Cheers for the responses and link all, most informative.

I am in a CityFibre area but Zen don't provide service on that here and in any case I'd rather not have to have ONTs switched and another hole drilled for a separate fibre,

the 150 down and 30 up would definitely help.

As I said, I know it isn't offered yet but posting here in the hope it catches the eye of someone from Zen.

But as said before they can't provide your preferred speed combination that is not available from the wholesale supplier. It may catch their eye but they cannot do it.

They can, but it costs them full price.

Plusnet sold 40/20 FTTC for quite a while, simply by slugging 80/20 in their own system.

Connections: OnePlus 8 Pro, 4G+ (LTE) max 165Mbps down, 24Mbps up on Three Mobile, and B311 4G+ router, tbb tests normally 35-45Mpbs down, 65Mbps off-peak, 9-24 up.

I think that he meant the 160/30 product.

I never understood why Plusnet did that and then they changed it to 40 Mbps down 2 Mbps up product which was even more stupid. Customers that complained were then put 55/10, it was a bit of a mess.smile

They were selling the 160/30 package around 6 months ago, but changed to offering the 115/20 package instead.
I know a couple of Zen customers still on 160/30.

I agree they could add a package between the 115/20 and 330/50 offering.

Alternatively they could offer 80/20 and 160/30 instead of the 115Mb package.

Probably 220/30, 330/30 or 330/50 would make the most sense.
