All is well that ends well.

It has been quite a long and Rocky Ride but eventually all of my issues were sorted out

Since within a day after the Openreach Visit on the 18th July 2022 my speeds have mostly been OK, (other than one blip which I have put down to someone making unscheduled changes behind the scenes).

During the Openreach Vist on 18th july 2022 they said that did did not do anything and Zen said the same in that they did not do anything but it has been much better since then.

https://forums.thinkbroadband.com/zen/4709246-slow-s...

Possibly off topic: after the Operreach Visit on 18th Jul 2022, at which they remade/cleaned a few connections/sliced fibre joints and apparently found nothing one of our neighbours came to me and he spoke out our Openreach Visit. - (We are on 900 mbps FTTP and we suspect that out neighbour has an FTTC connection since ours is the only occupied port in the PON). - The point is that our neighbour said that his FTTC connection greatily improved after our Openreach visit. - Strange and I do not know the relevance but maybe the issues were more Openreach than Zen and perhaps some equipment in our local exchange was reset/changed. - I do not know

Realistically, I never expected that I would be told exactly how it was sorted, I would have liked to know, but I am just pleased that it was sorted. - Hopefully, for ever.

Over the months: Zen Technical Department gave me the impression that they were trying their best which needs to be recognised and commended.

After the speed issues I then had some contract issues: and eventually Zen behaved properly regarding that so I will give Zen a Clean Sheet going forward as long as the same issues are not allowed to bumble along if they ever recur.

Ever ISP gets a few issues now and again and it is how they deal with them that really counts.

Zen were always the Gold Standard ISP and I feel, at its core, that Zen is still the same. - at least that is my hope moving forward.

Fido

Maybe today is just another blip but the speed has deteriorated again. - (There are no reported issues in the area). - the speed is flaky and goes down to 200 mbps.

Alternatively, perhaps it was the last three weeks of good speeds were the blip.

Today my contract issues were corrected, (good), and coincidentally the speeds dropped, (not good), and I do not know if the contract reset has had a bearing upon the speed stability but now my feelings of comfort have been replaced by apprehension and my optimism is fading.

You seem to be swinging from one extreme (I've had enough) to the other extreme (they are the gold standard) over the last few weeks, would it not be better to wait until you are sure what one is correct.

That is why I added the Red Face/Blush symbol to my last post.

My gut feeling always favoured Zen and whenever I was justifyably critical I felt bad. - Also, I am not sure where else to go that would be better. - Probably BT; but would they be better?

So when: After long periods of speed hassles: (for almost three weeks both day and night), we had broadband speed performance that was second to none. - I was very optimistic.

Then the contract price change farce raised its ugly head it did seem like the final straw until Zen relented and saw sense on that, when they decided to honour the written contract and released the last few weeks of my lock in period of my contract so that I can leave early. - I then felt that the old Zen had returned and my response was to recognise this; hense, the start post in this thread.

BT probably wouldn't be better for customer service but people only find out how good a companies customer service is when they have an issue. As long as the communication is still open and they are prepared to work your issue then your best bet is to stay with Zen for now.
