Fibre 300 - Teams\Skype freezing

[link to this post]

Hi All,

Strange problem which is recent. Had fibre 300 for a year or so, but recently noticed on my work laptop on my work Teams calls (on Wi-FI) pausing and freezing. Very consistent, freezing Teams video for 4-5 seconds, then resuming, reoccuring every minute or so. Same for Skype on my other halfs laptop who is connected to the Repeater, whereas I'm connected to the primary Fritzbox.

Spoke to Zen a few weeks ago who had a check of the Fritzbox and commented on the 'interference'. Whilst I'm not doubting this as a cause, it's not afecting Wi-Fi speed, but packet loss on teams is sometimes 46% so something's definetly going on. I do have a 3000 repeater.

Bit of a loss where to start looking to resolve this one...

Edit noticed a lot of erros in the WiFi log (below) and multiple IPV6 errors in the Internet connection log:
Wifi log:
5 GHz band unusable for 10 minutes on the selected channel 116 (frequency 5,580 GHz) due to a check for privileged users (e.g. RADAR).

internet Connection Log:
Could not obtain IPv6 prefix. Reason for error: 6 (No prefixes have been assigned)

Taking the Wi-Fi aspect - the frequency range 5600-5660 starting at channel 120 requires a long wait time for weather radar of 10 mins and this includes any Wi-Fi that overlaps this range even if the centre channel lies outside it.

For channel 116 this would be included if your channel width is 40MHz or more.

For indoor operation start with a channel selected from 36-64 at 40MHz.
If you have no neighbours you can consider increasing the width but otherwise be prepared to reduce it to 20MHz if it's busy with other devices.

If you really want to use channels 100+ set it to channel 100 (5500) initially at 40MHz and even then don't go beyond 80MHz.
If the router is allowed to choose the channel itself it may sometimes happen to switch to the 10 min wait channels (and you'll only have the 2.4 band during that wait).
Mine is set primarily to 100 and occupies 100-112 (which will be 5490-5570) as 36-48 are already congested so auto channel kept moving around too much.

Teams doesn't need high bandwidth but does prefer low latency and jitter.
Check if you still have the freezes while connected with wired Ethernet.

As regards the IPv6 errors, not receiving a network prefix is somewhat equivalent to not receiving the single fixed WAN IP assignment on on v4.
Check your Fritzbox is using the Zen profile for the ISP settings as that assigns the address/prefix/delegation that are allocated to you.
Check if you actually get those errors more than once per 24 hour period as it relates to your Internet connection and it may occasionally be reset overnight after midnight, but should not continue to happen throughout the day unless you have a line problem for example.

prlzx on Zen: FTTC (VDSL) at ~40Mbps / 10Mbps
with IP4/6 (no v6? - not true Internet)

Hi Prlzx,

Thanks for the response.. I've updated the 5GHz channel to 100, although I don't see anywhere on the Fritzbox to adjust the MHz, the 2.4GHz is on channel 1. Previously it was auto select for both 2.4 and 5.

The IPv6 errors are more than daily:
