All Praise to Zen - Seamless Switch - Outstanding Performace

[link to this post]

We moved our FTTP install over from Shell Energy on Friday and the switchover was pretty much seamless and we're very pleased with the move to Zen - 500Mbs (was 300Mbs on Shell and BT prior)

Openreach made the switchover very early in the morning and Shell stopped working around 3am

Frizbox needed some initial configuration to get it into FTTP mode and the Zen chat was helpful and supportive.

Once we'd got Fritz up and running, I decided that I'd try and get our Nest Wifi Pro up and running using the pppoe credentials - Worked really nicely, no trouble at all..

Then decided to get our annex connected up to the network, which is connected by a 50m underground fibre link with a Nest Wifi router in bridge mode in the Annex - No problems at all..

Over the weekend decided I'd change DNS servers to the Google 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 to see how things went (was never able to get this working with Shell or BT prior)

Result is that we now have blisteringly fast and stable internet - Something we've not had for a while.

Sky Glass switches channels sub second and our ping times are around 12MS

Son's gaming is flying and lag-less

Teams and Meet calls are super clear

I helped a relative set-up Zen on Cty fibre last year and was surprised at how well it worked, very happy we made the move and all credit to Zen for running a top notch network and service...

I have an Openreach setup in my new build property. If I wanted to move to Zen, would they need to relay fibre cable or can they use the Openreach network?

Zen can supply service over the Openreach network, and if you have an existing FTTP ONT they'll use that - no engineer visit should be required.

They'll only bring in a second fibre cable if you're also in a Cityfibre area.

With Openreach you'll get a lower upload speed (max. 900 down/110 up, versus 900 down/900 up on Cityfibre)
