BT to Zen

[link to this post]

I am with BT Full Fibre 500 with Halo 3 and a VOIP phone. My contract expires in November and I'm going to move to a similar package with Zen which will save me close to £20 a month?
BT has never fallen over so I'm unsure if Halo 3 is actually worth it. I don't think I need a VOIP phone either as I can rely on my mobile.
Are there any downsides to my plan?

There are a few of us who've had pretty poor luck and service from Zen in recent times, particularly around their own Zen GEA network. Personally I wouldn't move to Zen if I >needed< a connection, and would want to have a backup plan if I had to rely on a Zen connection. You might want to re-consider whether it's worth saving the £20.

Two people have recommended Aquiss rather than Zen. I have not heard of them before.

They're one of the smaller providers - last year they announced that they'd reached 10,000 FTTP customers.

The MD sometimes answers questions on this forum, and even handles some support tickets himself smile

You get static IPv4, static IPv6 if you want it, free install, half price for 6 months, no price rises within your (12 month) contract, and no automatic price rises at contract end.

The flip side is that you have to pay for your own router, if you don't have a suitable one already.

Thanks for that info. I had not realised that Aquiss don't provide a router.
