fttp providers

Work has been going on in my neighbourhood for a few weeks - installing large pavement boxes, etc
Today some guys were working on the existing poles, connecting up cables. They said they were installing for Virgin media. Does that mean only Virgin fttp services will be available or will other ISPs have access?

Probably NextFibre (aka Virgin) if it is a new rollout. Use the checker on Virgins website. Currently NextFibre is Virgin only but there has been talk of them wholesaling it out but no update yet.

Thanks. It's newbuild (seems to use mainly existing ducts and poles though) and NextFibre shows building in this area in 2024. Virgin Media site shows no availability yet.
It's a pity that it might be only Virgin as I would not want to go with them. Longtime Zen user.
Both OR and CityFibre have good coverage in surrounding areas (Chester)

Virgin Media checker usually says Coming Soon (or similar words) when appropriate.

It wouldn't be my choice either but if only option and stuck on ADSL or bad FTTC it is better than having no option of FTTP at all.

May be worth using https://bidb.uk/ to see if anything else is planned in your area/street.

Use the appropriate checker for OR and CF and register interest so they know there is some interest in your area.
