Fritzbox 7530AX and firmware upgrade

[link to this post]

Hi

Zen have just sent me a Fritzbox 7530AX due to my firmware upgrade issue with my 7530..

It’s working well but doesn’t have version 8 of the firmware on it. I’m understandably reluctant to do a firmware upgrade without knowing if I’m likely to hit the same issue with this router!

So has anyone here successfully upgraded to version 8.00 of the firmware with a 7530AX?

Thanks in advance.

I’m sorry this isn’t on the existing thread but with 27 pages of comments I’m afraid I got totally lost on there…..

I was also sent an AX as a 'loan' router after my previous 7530 kept restarting following the update to 8.0
I did update the AX to 8.0 and have had a solid connection with no drop-outs or restarts since doing so on October 16th. Zen have agreed for me to keep the new router.
Obviously there's no guarantee that my experience will be your experience.

Thank you. Really appreciate your reply.

I think I will wait a day or so then try doing the upgrade.

I've had a 7530AX since I moved to Fibre 900 2 years ago. It's always kept itself up-to-date with revised versions (currently 8.00) and I have never had the slightest problem. No idea about DSL, though.

As a general rule, never use version X.00 of anything. Wait for at least X.01 smile

As a long-term F!B user, I would respectfully disagree. AVM has an extensive programme of labor/beta updates prior to the release of the final firmware version. These are available via the Fritz!Labs website.

Over the past 10 years, I have experienced the occasional problem with labor/beta updates but, with the option to rollback to the previous OS, there is no significant risk being an early adopter. I cannot recall an issue with any OS release.

As Zen appears to be offering a bespoke firmware update, the problem may have been avoided in part had Zen offered labor/firmware updates to a small number of 7530 users.

Unless your ISP has configured your router to automatically upgrade.

I am also a long term FB user but would disagree with you as far as this release is concerned. I highlighted to AVM that they had a problem with reboots but that fell on deaf ears.

Rollback is all very good provided that there isn’t a bug - as in this release - that prevented rollback.

My 7530AX (originally supplied by Zen but only used on PlusNet) has just clocked up an interrupted Connection up-time of 49 days on DSL since I updated it to 8.00.

Even during the multiple previous beta 7.90 versions I saw no unscheduled interruptions. It has also been meshed with a Repeater 3000 and a 7530 (also with beta 7.90 and 8.00) which as been rock solid, with a total of over 20 active Wifi and Ethernet devices.
