Fritz box 7530 updated to 8.02

[link to this post]

Had an automatic update on my Fritz box 7530 overnight from the version pushed out by Zen following the disatrous update to 8.00.

The new Online Monitor showing traffic for individual devices looks interesting.

Yes was running the 8.00-116930 release, "test" version since November, on a 7530, and those stats are interesting to view.
Also updated to 8.02 this morning, a newer 7530AX updated 23/1/25 to 8.02 (All updates pushed by Zen)

Not with Zen, but have an original 7590 from a few years of being with Trunk Networks / No One internet, and it was automatically updated to 8.02 two nights ago.

The Wi-Fi is now almost completely broken and 95% of the time, my Pixel 9 Pro and Samsung A15 simply fail to load any data via wireless connection (apps, web browser, the lot).

I've rebooted the router several times, restarted my wireless devices, changed wireless channels, and nothing seems to make any difference. It's literally since the update that things have stopped working and started cutting out as if it's being disabled or turned off.

Any ideas on what to do? I have already sent off a support ticket to AVM but it's only been the two days and now it's the weekend, so I don't expect to get a response before mid week.

I have poor motile data signal at my flat, so can't simply switch to data for the interim.

I would carryout a factory reset as per the instructions on the AVM website. You can then update the firmware manually.

It is a bit of a pain to reconfigure the box but it does solve most issues. Don’t be tempted to import a backup file: you run the risk of importing the problem that you have just eliminated.

I am a great fan of Fritz!boxes but not when ISPs have taken control. With my ‘unlocked’ Fritz!box, I can download beta software and revert at will (rarely necessary).

If setting up the router again is going to be a pain, I don't see an issue with taking a backup of the settings, doing a factory reset and loading in the backup - provided that you keep in mind that, (as you say), you might be re-importing the problem?

If you still have the problem, you can still do another factory reset and then set up from scratch.

Hi GoWest, I thought that would be the next thing to do. Unfortunately I don't remember my login/user credentials for the ISP so I'm waiting on a reply to my support email.
