Fritz!Box WiFi Mesh

Can I just clarify that I can use a 7530 AX as a base router and connect a 7530 as a mesh access point over WiFi but not the other way round?

Because the 7530 is already installed in place and I have been given a 7530 ax. Its not a major issue swapping them around, just CBA to go rummaging in the cupboard 😂😂

I have been told that although the Fritz!Boxes are not locked to Zen and can be used with any ISP.

However, this person told me that I will no longer be able to get Firmware updates from AVN, as they are pushed from Zen.

Has anyone used a Zen supplied Fritz!Box with a different ISP and still received Firmware updates from AVN?

As I recall, the router user interface has an option to check for updates.

It does indeed.

I just want to see if anyone is using a Zen supplied router and still gets firmware updates from AVN.

Both my 7530 and 7530AX are ex-Zen, and they both have always run here (not on Zen) from AVM supplied firmware. Indeed, they are both now running the latest 8.24 beta

I purchased a used 7530 from Ebay and set it up on my friend's Vodafone/Cityfibre connection.

The router successfully updates when updates are pushed out by AVM.

If you have an unlocked Fritz!Box it will automatically detect firmware updates and, depending on your settings, it will update automatically.

You can also download beta updates directly from Fritz!Labs.

I have been using Fritz!boxes for a number of years with various ISPs without any issues whatsoever.
