Looking for basic info. please.

have seen good reviews about AAISP, currently on Access a BTw based package.

BTw line checker gives me a line rate of 4megs or greater, can usually synch happily at 4544,Netgear DG834N, using router statslite my noise margin tends to vary between 6 and down to 4.9 in the evening,

but every evening using btspeedtester my throughput plummets and my speedtests on this site show my speed can drop to just over half a meg.. frown

would AAISP be able to maintain throughput on my line using the BT system or would it drop as drastically with them in the evenings and weekends?

Thanks for any help, not technical here but I do try to learn fast

You know it could be one of a few things

1. Congestion at your exchange, slam your number into here to see the VP status at your exchange: http://usertools.plus.net/exchanges/ - if it shows red, then the path from your exchange is a bit full. And that would have an effect on your speed

2. o2 access is notoriously oversubscribed and large numbers on a congested service would also have an effect on speeds.

3. AAISP have line monitoring running 24/7 and are able to ascertain using this line monitoring if your line or exchange is having problems.

AAISP's network is not over subscribed and if you still experience throughput problems then it probably is a line issue or a congested exchange

Thanks for your reply, my exchange NDNEW shows as green,so assume that on that basis my 5.00pm to 10.00pm slow throughput etc wouldn't occur as badly with AAISP, <grin> not a gamer so don't understand ping but o2 needed that as well. which also shows a hefty increase.

I am able to migrate as of early June when my contract is finished and would certainly appreciate an isp that offers a 'steady' service

Hi Mistynow,

As Brynon says, the slow speed could be your ISP or the exchange, either way we'd be able to help - our monitoring graphs would show time based patterns to help diagnose this - and if the problem was within BT, then we'd go down that route to resolve it.
