i tried my old my old modem and the router plusnet sent me at my mates place and they both work fine. TBH, I am worried about telling plusnet in case they knock the speed down, maybe i should just get another modem the same as my neighbours.

Very strange to me as well since the other stuff worked at my mates place.

HG612 supports vectoring and g.inp if firmware has auto updated which it looks like it has.

But surly G.inp or vectoring should not stop a router/modem that is not updated from synchronising? That would leave some people with problems, in fact a lot of people with problems.
Saying that by all accounts according to a BT Engineer I am not the only person up here having problems, but he was a phone line engineer, so would not know so much about broadband.
What I don't understand is why if it is a problem with G-inp and vectoring, why have it only happened when my phone line died and fixed? Surly Plusnet would not send out a new router that would not cope with the newer tech, or then again maybe they would.

What I have done is connected the hub one to the modem via wan and see if it will update, worth a go.

You do not have to, if you raised a fault and stopped using the line, it would get resolved.

And you don't have too but if getting Plusnet to raise a fault is too much bother then it seems the only option.

Hence why the saying 'its borked' i.e. when set up properly the systems should fallback to configuration both DSLAM and modem support, but as with many configuration systems always the chance that one flag has been turned off that stops backwards compatibility.

Without access to all the data we are all making educated guesses, but resolution is down to broadband retailer chasing its wholesaler, or if too much hassle using hardware that is happy working.

While plusnet customer service ispretty good, getting though to them is a pain in the neck, waiting for 15-20 minutes for them to answer the phone si not my idea of fun.
but I do get your point, the problem is I am worried they will do something that will knock me off and while I am connected I can get some things done.

I will give them a call later on this evening, they answer quicker after 9pm.

I did not call them as I was not well when I came home, but about 30 mins ago I had a BTOR van come, he done a test and confirmed there is something wrong and have now gone to the cabinet to have a look. He is amused as I am why one modem will connect and the others do not, I even got my new Huawie today and that connects like my neighbours do. Still May it is a spare I suppose.
So we will see what happens.
