BBC

[link to this post]

HI,
Anyone else having problems with BBC Homepage ? I have been using it unchanged for some while now but suddenly it will not remember any of my preferences eg Sports to be displayed, location for weather, location for local news.

I have checked my cookie settings ,cleared cookies and emptied cache.

Would be gratefull for any input.

I noticed this a couple of hours ago. I'm using Firefox 3.5.3 installed last night.

The Home Page knows my postcode as when I go to Set My Location it tells me the current one, which is my home postcode. Similarly with the weather forecast, the Home Page gives me London Central, go to the 5-day forecast and it's got my actual location correct.

I too have cleared cookies etc.

I'll send an email to a man I know...

Yessssss!!!!!!!!!!

I have spent a couple of hours on this! Including going back to a Restore point, (which said it failed and it was only yesterday mornings!), and clearing cookies.

You can't re-arrange it or alter anything.

A bit ago I turned on my other computer to see if that was affected, but then forgot. I shall go and look ...

... yes that's gone as well.

I just had a look now and you're right not saving preferences on my end either so you're not alone.

What browsers are people using?

Just tried BBC on IE8 - the browser crashes.

Just tried it on Opera 10.0, same as Firefox.

Tends to suggest it's a site issue.

My earlier post tends to suggest it's saving your preferences, just not acting on them.
