PlusNet Value

Do you rate limit Logmein sessions? (The upload - Are they seen a VPN traffic?)

Say I am on another ISP and the person I am connected to is on PlusNet, I can't FTP files between quickly but I could setup a web server on port 80 at my end and then download via a web browser at the other end? this would get around the speed limit? Correct?

The exchange is a market 2 area, if this changed to Market 3 how quick would the discount kick in?

The usage limits emails can they come to more than one email address or do I need to setup a DL list?

Hi,

At the moment Logmein is seen as HTTP traffic so classed as Web, it is on my list to build a sig for it (along with GoToMyPC as that's as similar type of app that's also seen as HTTP) so that it sits correctly as a Remote Access App.

It will still get the same priority on the network (high priority on the network as it's in the gold queue) when I've made the change (we're probably looking at mid next month, maybe a bit later depending on how easy the sig is to do). On Value it would then be rate limited to 448kbps on the upload (and 512kbps down) but that's the maximum upload speed you can get on Max, only Max Premium and 21CN would offer a speed faster than the rate limit.

So on a a 8mbit service it would be limited to 512 down and 448 up?
(I have 1.5Mbit upload here do it would only use 512 of my upload when remotely connecting. Correct?

Once the signature is built and applied, yes.

When the exchange is 21CN enabled (WBC) will you switch them to a ADSL2+ package at no extra cost?
WBC is due Sept 2009

Thanks

Is this true? I have asked many times about applications like TeamViewer, LogMeIn, RealVNC etc any have been told that deep packet inspection (what ever this means!) is used so they will not be treated as normal web traffic and will be restricted.

We don't know enough about 21CN yet to say how the accounts will work, though of course as soon as we do it will be announced. As such at this stage I'm afraid I can't say one way or the other.

Nick,

They're all treated as VPN traffic which is "Gold".

In the old BBYW Option1 VPN was restricted. Is this no longer the case?
