Plusnet pro

[link to this post]

I'm currently on O2 LLU but am moving house where there is no O2 LLU so am shopping around for a new ISP, i've just noticed this package, am i right in thinking that this a totally clean conection? (ie: no trafic shaping at all)

I was looking at the newnet Home M with 12GB package, but this does look good too.

I stream media from bbc i player sometimes and download the occasional iso along with a little bit of gaming too.

How are the pings and whats the reliabilty like?

I'm on BBYWPro which is a legacy product but of the same ilk.

The shaping can be seen here http://www.kitz.co.uk/isp/plusnet_shaping.htm look for pro in the dropdown list it is quoted as No restriction, I've been fine with it till this weekend and my speed is still over the 6mbps mark although browsing is a bit slow. They are installing a new central pipe and more capacity next week so that should solve things, as I say on the whole I'm pleased with it, There is a 20gig peak time cap and unmetered after midnight so it suits me and from the 22nd of this month just 10days notice if you want to migrate.
But it does always depend on how far you are from your exchange as it is an ipstream product so speed will depend on your router stats

Speed always depends on distance from the exchange, and it is possible the exchange is WBC enabled in which case it could (would?) be WBMC up to 24Mbps.

Thanks for the reply.

Looks like it might be the way to go.

I have the phone number of the house we are moving to, there is no broadband on the line and bt estimate upto 5Mb so not much different to when i was on IDnet at my current address.

There is a new product "Premium" but that also has quite a bit of shaping but an 80gig peak allowance http://www.plus.net/support/broadband/quality_broadb... I believe this was formerly Unlimited I think Pro is your best bet
