Wireless router and talktalk

My wireless LAN seems to bomb out since configuring it with my talktalk settings.... I only entered my new username and password everything else was either auto detect or default settings... Sometimes a full reboot of my router is the only way to restore the WLAN, so why is my wireless network bombing out..? The wired LAN works fine.
I use a Sitecom router and it has worked faultlessly for the past two years, I have rechecked all the settings and even tried different configuration but still no joy (I have a password protected admin account on it so that it cant be remotely configured)

I dont see how any talktalk settings could cause this problem but I wondered if anyone else had a similar router problems since switching to TT...?

I agree with you that it would be odd for Talktalk default settings to upset your WLAN.
I use a Linksys WAG354G with 2 computers on the WLAN No problems using default settings.
It is more likely to be a wireless problem with one or the other members of your WLAN than Talk Talk. Your wired LAN works so the ADLS is up and working so that would point to eliminating the ADSL link.
Is there anyone else transmitting on your channel in the near vicinity?

A little while back TT changed some settings that knocked my WAG354 out as it did for other routers. There was a whole thread on here regarding it.
In the main and for whatever reason Microsoft sites (including MSN Messenger) where unreachable.

As it's only the wireless portion affected, I would say it is extremely unlikely to be anything to do with Talktalk, as they cannot alter any settings from their end that affect the settings on the router, other than the information their DHCP server sends to your router to give you an IP address, gateway and DNS servers, etc.

I had a Sitecom router once and it had to be sent back due to this issue. Unfortunately, the company I bought it from didn't sell that make anymore and offered a refund or credit towards another purchase, so I wouldn't know if it was a common fault.

Another thing to check is heat. Obviously, in the recent weather conditions we've been having some things can overheat. A router is often put in a cupboard or on a shelf and forgotten about, where it can actually get quite hot, especially when using games or P2P applications which open a lot of connections and generate a lot of traffic. As with most computer equipment, the router has a processor which gets hotter when the load on it increases. Try checking air vents and relocating from a closed in space and this may help.

On the other hand it may be faulty and could just be a conincidence that it happened when you changed the username and password.

Thanks guys.... I suppose i knew that my new TalkTalk connection wouldn't affect the wireless part of the router without affecting the wired connections too, just seeems strange that the only change i made was to enter the TT settings for my account especially after it has been working great for over two years now... anyway after fully reading the manual "again" I will try changing the channel (I think some neighbourghs may now have WLAN even though they aren't broadcasting the SID) and even set it back to factory settings and start again....
