I moved house and would have stayed with Pipex if they had been a bit more helpful when I phoned to ask for advice as I wanted to keep my account. OK, I believe there are technical issues but it seems odd for companies to say that you have to completely close an old account and then open a new one. Good examples are the water, gas and electricity companies, all of whom with just one phone call were able to transfer my credits across to my new address.
I was also extremely annoyed when the CSR offered me a better deal than the one I had been on for 4 years. Why do companies treat existing customers worse than newcomers? I know the banks are infamous for it, but it doesn't mean it's acceptable behaviour.
Anyway
After 10 days of speeds in the 150 to 200kbps range, I'm now on 2.7 meg. Woohoo! I've never had anything like that before and it's a revelation.
Plusnet have a private forum for customers which is a most useful way of keeping in touch with the Support staff. It certainly makes you feel that you're wanted and is far better than a premium rate phone line.
